What is Women’s Empowerment? (Pumps & Pearls Event 2022 )

Writer: MeshiaMeshia

The Standard definition in Wikipedia of Women’s Empowerment states that Women's

empowerment (or female empowerment) may be defined in several ways, including accepting women's viewpoints or making an effort to seek them, raising the status of women through education, awareness, literacy, and training. Personally, Women Empowerment to me means to uplift, embrace, empower and teach other women through each other’s own life experiences of the lessons and blessing we have conquered and achieved. The Famous Poet and Civil rights activist Maya Angelou once said, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” Saturday July 10th, 2022 was a day filled with love, empowerment, and laughter. It was a day that many of the women say they will cherish forever and never forget. The Still Rising Inc Nonprofit held our annual Pumps and Pearls Women’s Empowerment Luncheon at Elm St Lounge located in the heart of downtown Greensboro NC. The Purpose of the event was to encourage and promote women empowerment by providing guest speakers and resources to educate the women who attended the event on how to obtain home ownership, invest in real estate, acquire personal and business credit plus more. The ladies learned the importance of selflove and selfcare along with some techniques to use for their own selflove and selfcare in their own personal journeys to heal from past traumas. We are so pleased that our nonprofit was able to give out so much information and listings with free resources within our community for help for mental health therapy, substance abuse, financial crisis, shelter, food assistance and more. Our Organization would like to give a special thanks to to all the people who took time out of their day to make this event happen.
